Betsy Cukla’s Orange Cookies

  • 1.5 teaspoon(s) Bakewell Cream Baking powder
  • 1 cup(s) sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon(s) frozen orange juice concentrate
  • 1 teaspoon(s) orange flower water
  • 0.25 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 16 ounce(s) unsalted butter (2 sticks)
  • 2 tablespoon(s) heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoon(s) orange zet or finely cut candied orange peel (or the equivalent in Bovajian orange oil)
  • 3 cup(s) Hecker's all-purpose flour

Betsy Cukla’s Orange Cookies Directions

 Preheat oven to 350F.

In a separate bowl stir together flour, baking powder and salt and set aside.

In mixing bowl beat the butter and sugar until creamy. Mix in the egg.

Beat in 1/2 of the flour mixture just until blended, then add the zest, orange juice, cream and orange flower water.

Gently beat in the rest of the flour mixture as overbeating will make cookies tough.

Chill dough briefly.

Make cutouts, chill again and bake for approximately 12 minutes.
