April 01, 2017 - OUR LATEST DISCOVERY IN LOVELY OLIVE OILS - FROM GREECE

Starts:
April 01, 2017 11:00 am
Ends:
April 01, 2017 4:00 pm
Location:
La Cuisine

While we have some small production olive oils from the USA, France, Tunisia, Spain and Italy, Larissa has searched for several years for  ones from Greece that have the same level of excellence.  A couple of years ago at an international food show, we nailed it from the same group who brought us the two incredible examples of Greek honey that we now permanently stock.

FiveOliveOil.com produces four extra virgin olive oils in very swanky packaging - for which they have received several awards as well.  Larissa and the Cuisinette tasting panel picked the two following ones. Both of them should be used as finishing oils.

Five Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil is packed in a stylish 6.8 oz bottle and the oil is 100% Koroneiki olives and every aspect of its cultivation and production is organic.  You will taste its pronounced fruity flavor plus it has a gorgeous color and aroma.
5organicevoo It normally retails for $28.00 but will be $22.40 today.

The folks at Five are justifiably proud of this second one, so much so that they have Swarovski crystals in the bottle design. They label it as their Unique Extra Virgin Olive Oil.  It derives its unusual flavor  and aroma from a particular selection of  olives in a Protected Designation of Origin.  The best hand picked Koroneiki, Athinolia and Asprolia olives are used to create this oil, which  has a rich and unusual aroma,  limpid color, and  a smooth, mild peppery flavor.  6.8 oz bottle retails for $54.00 but will be $43.20 today.

Both these olive oils are featured in top food emporiums in Europe, Asia and North America and for good reason - these should be drizzled as a finishing touch to grilled meats and fish, salads, risottios  and pastas.

April 07, 2017 - JOIN THE EASTER EGG HUNT WITH OLD TOWN BOUTIQUE DISTRICT

EASTEREGGWe're having our own Easter Egg Hunt in the Old Town Boutique District!  From April 7 through April 9, download a map of the participating stores.  Take your kids and have them find the egg in each shop and we'll stamp your map (kind of  like  Where's Waldo which we do in July).  When you have completed your map, drop it off to Pink and Brown at 1129 King Street or Fleurir Chocolates at 724 Jefferson Street.  Your family will have a chance to win one of three Easter Baskets stuffed with surprises from all of us. Be sure to check store hours of each participating store.

Did you know you can use your gel paste colors for the best-ever Easter Egg dye?  Just add it to warm water with a bit of vinegar and you will get the most incredible jewel tones. Much better than the grocery store kits.  If you are missing some colors, check out our selection.

We also have lovely decors, Spring cutter sets, currants for Hot Cross Buns, oval scoops for Oeufs A La Neige and  other ingredients and tools to make your Easter menu delicious.

April 08, 2017 - OUR LATEST SHIPMENT OF MIGNOLA & MADREMIGNOLA OLIVE OILS

Starts:
April 08, 2017 11:00 am
Ends:
April 08, 2017 4:00 pm
Location:

poggio selectionWe were very fortunate to find these unusual olive oils from Poggio Cappiano in Lucca.  This family produces some of the most select olive oils to be found in Tuscany. The Mazzentinis are members of a group of olive growers who have brought  two cultivars back from the brink of extinction: Madremignola and Mignola.   While most Tuscan olive oils that we taste at shows have that burn-your-throat aftertaste, both of these are peppery and herbaceous with long lasting flavor.

Mignola is a lighter, more floral and grassy olive oil and the Madremignola has that distinctive herbaceous and peppery note, but also toasty almond flavor at the finish.

Today pick up some bottles of these two hard to find extra virgin olive oils at a 20% discount.   While you are in the shop, try some of our other olive oils and vinegars at Larissa's "taste me" bar!

If you are not in the area and you want to take advantage of this deal, call us on our toll free number 1 800 521 1176 and place your order to get the tasting discount.

ketchupCal Valls is a small vegetable and fruit company in Catalonia, Spain.  Their founders are fervent believers in organic and environmentally sound food cultivation.   We discovered and carried their tomato products a few years ago and then the US distributor dropped their line. We found them again at the Fancy Food Show  a couple of years ago.

Heinz should take a lesson from these folks. Their delicious ketchup is made from local organic plum tomatoes, real cane sugar, brandy vinegar, sea salt and some spices--that's it.  No fillers, no corn syrup, no additional starches.  And it tastes just wonderful.  It's not just for hamburgers.

Try some today when you come to shop. You'll get a 20% discount on it today.  We also have their jarred tomatoes, tomato paste and tomato puree.   These are  full of flavor, not watery and again, no fillers.

You should have one these jar scrapers to get every last bit out.

Give us a call today at our toll free number 1 800 521 1176 if you are out of the area or can't stop by the shop for a tasting.  We can take your order for all of our tasting promotions today at the same 20% discount.

Use the marzipan  in a wonderful cake from Diana Henry's new book, Simple or in Nancy''s Sicilian  for pistachio creammarzipan ice cream.  You can use 6 ounces of the pistachio cream instead with equally yummy results.

Both will be discounted 20% today. If you aren't in our neighborhood and want these products shipped or picked up later in our shop, call our toll-free number (1 800 521 1176) and we will take your order at the 20% discount.

Fallot produces our favorite mustards.   If you have fallen in love with your earlier choices of Fallot Mustards, this is your chance to taste three new ones at a 20% discount. Today we will have their Provencale Mustard, Spiced Honey Mustard and Honey Balsamic Mustard open fprovencale mustardor tasting.

The Provencal Mustard  combines tomatoes, red bell peppers, and Herbes de Provence to create a beautiful flavor to brighten any sandwich or sauce for seafood.  We found this mustard irresistible at the Fancy Food Show.

Fallot's Honey Balsamic Mustard successfully balances the sweet flavors of the balsamic and honey with their creamy Dijon mustard base.  You can create a lush vinaigrette,  or add to sauces that compliment chicken or pork.  The Spiced "gingerbread" mustard is based on the French cake  called pain d'epices. This mustard combines many of the same flavors and it is the perfect foil for a ham sandwich.
